Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 June 2026

These Terms govern your use of Prees ("the app", "we", "us"), a social app for university students to organise nights out. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Prees. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

The operator of Prees is contactable at hello@getprees.com.

1. Who can use Prees

You may use Prees only if you are 18 years or older and a current student at a supported university, verified through a valid university email address. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for everything that happens under your account. Do not share your login, and do not create an account using someone else's email or identity.

2. What Prees is — and what it isn't

Prees is a tool for students to organise their own events. We do not run, host, supervise, or take part in any event.

Events on Prees are created and hosted by users, not by us. We are not responsible for what happens before, during, or after any event, including anything that occurs at a gathering organised, advertised, or coordinated through the app. Any arrangement you make with another user — to attend an event, share costs, or anything else — is between you and them.

3. The home-safe feature

The "home safe" check is a voluntary coordination feature. It is not a safety, monitoring, or emergency service, and you must not rely on it as one.

Prees does not track your location. It does not know whether you are actually safe. It does not alert anyone — not us, not your friends, not the emergency services — if you do not check in. Checking in as "home safe" is always optional and simply shares that status with others at your event. It is not a substitute for staying in contact with people you trust or, in an emergency, contacting the emergency services directly. We are not responsible for your safety or the safety of any other user.

4. Money and the shared ledger

Prees lets you record shared expenses and who owes what, as a convenience. No money moves through Prees. We do not process, hold, or transfer payments. Any amounts shown in the app are a record only; settling up happens directly between users, outside the app. We are not responsible for any dispute about money between users, or for the accuracy of any figure a user enters.

5. Your responsibilities and acceptable use

When using Prees, you agree that you will not:

You are solely responsible for the content you create and the events you host, and for ensuring your events and conduct comply with the law and with your university's rules.

6. Hosting events responsibly

If you host an event, you decide who you approve, and you are responsible for your own event and your own guests. Approving someone gives them access to your event's exact address — only approve people you are willing to share that with. We provide block and report tools, but you are responsible for your own judgement about who you let in and what you choose to attend.

7. Reporting, blocking, and enforcement

We provide tools for you to block and report other users and content. We review reports we receive and take appropriate action against content or accounts that breach these Terms. Depending on the breach, this may include removing content, issuing warnings, suspending or terminating accounts, and restricting access. We aim to review reports promptly, and we prioritise reports involving illegal content, threats to safety, or risks to anyone's wellbeing. Where we become aware of illegal content, we will act to remove it and, where appropriate, report it to the relevant authorities.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you create. By posting it, you grant us a limited licence to store and display it as needed to operate the app (for example, showing your message to others in the same event chat). You are responsible for having the right to post anything you share.

9. The app is provided "as is"

We work to keep Prees running well, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will always be available, error-free, or that it will meet every expectation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your use of the app, your dealings with other users, or anything that happens at an event. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud).

10. Suspension and ending your use

You can stop using Prees and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if we stop operating the app. Some provisions — including those on acceptable use, liability, and content — continue to apply after your account ends.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app develops. If we make significant changes, we will make the updated Terms available here and update the date above. Continuing to use Prees after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
